WE ARE A COOPERATIVE BREWERY: A SMALL, INDEPENDENT AND SOCIALLY-RESPONSIBLE COLLECTIVE DEDICATED TO CRAFT BEER.
Yes, we are small and that’s our greatness – for us, this is personal.
You think we don’t cut and save newspaper articles about us? We do.
You think we will not spill hectoliters of beer if it doesn’t meet our expectations? We do.
We are still small enough to play on passion and that is why there’s no room for mediocrity.
FIRST BEERS FROM THE BALCONY
Brlog was born when Ana Teskera and Maja Šepetavec decided to leave their jobs and their hometowns to move to the small coastal city of Zadar and establish a craft brewery.
In these triple impossible conditions, they brewed their first beers on the balcony in a rented apartment. Now, is it passion or optimism or stubbornness or perfectionism or youth?
Probably a little bit of everything.
CONTEMPORARY CRAFT BEER
Beers we create today should be classified as contemporary craft beers with character:
‘Blonde’ (a.k.a. Plavuša) is an American blonde ale type of light beer, while ‘Disobedient’ (a.k.a. Neposlušna) is a hoppy red ale.
And there are dozens of new products constantly being added to the portfolio!
COOPERATIVE – it’s the ‘we’, not ‘me’
Aaaand a few investment cycles later….. Brlog operates as a cooperative – the only one of its kind in Croatia.
A collective that brings together lovers of premium beer and like-minded people that put Community before individual selves. We believe in trust, social justice and sustainability and with our approach to production, business, financing and product design, we always strive to break down social and economic prejudices.
Our vision is – to be an independent and socially-engaged cooperative brewery, owned by cooperative members, a place for networking, culture, high quality food and drinks from the portfolio of our members.
It is a big step, but we can do it because #passion is on our side – and optimism and stubbornness and patience and perfectionism and youth. A little bit of everything!
Spokesperson. She talks about what’s happening inside and she exaggerates with ideas. The last thing she insisted on is the toboggan in the brewery, but it didn't quite work out and now this is written here. #ihaveanidea
Mom of the brewery. She knows everything about everything in our factory, and has a special quality-control laboratory installed in the middle of her head: a nose for beer. Because of that super power, we branded the hashtag #askmaja
warehouse/ event manager
The head of the warehouse, creator of events in the taproom and the only member of the team with his artistic name, plus the only one that’s almost entirely Zadar origin. #hereiam
Ain’t here anymore, but once you're part of the Brlog family, you are always the Brlog family. He went after his wife in Belgium. #disobedient
We all speak English in the brewery because of him. An exceptional technological mind from Poland with experience of brewing in numerous breweries, from Vietnam to Poland. #perfectenough
Head of tool department
Head of the delivery service and tool department, you-can-see-him-everywhere guy, helps us to fulfil all sorts of ideas. And he is always smiling. #yesican
God bless Marija and all the weird circumstances that brought her here. She keeps us sane from book keeping madness. An IT girl for web shop, books and much more. #finally
One of many interns we got from Poland, but this one is here to stay and work. Feels like he was here from the beginning, we even got him a Croatian nickname Mate. A bit of a tech geek that fits our state of mind perfectly. #askmate
WHO ARE OUR COOPERATIVE MEMBERS?
People who think like us (about beer and life) are always welcome! The more of us, the stronger we are. We know it because we started as a couple, then grew to 15, then to 90+ members and, “who would have thought” – we really are stronger and we can do so much more now!
If you are into our cooperative spirit and you think that Brlog could be the right place for you, but you don’t know how to start with all that – well, this is the beginning.

OUR COOPERATIVE MEMBER'S COMMENTS
Congratulations on the fast servise and amazing beer!
Her narative is typically feminine, she wants to help, explain, direct, understand, empatizes and that is just wonderful! Macho style of local breweries has became so old and boring, as ironic it is.
I dont drink beet every day, but I have to say that Neposlušna (red ale) is the best beer in Croatia. Plavuša (blonde ale) has the same amount of alcohol but I can drink many. Neposlušna beer is amazing, true beer with a character. Špurija, dark beer, should be drank is small doses.
Brlog is a cooperative which is so well done, so healthy and smartly organized, with true courage and conviction, with good humor and positive spirit. It is a true example of good business for 21ct.
You are so positive, that you radiate! (not covid kind of positive)
I really enjoyed cooperative Zoom meetings, it was the first time I felt there was a purpose to what we are doing. It wasn't just another Zoom meeting.
I recommend their high quality beer. Špurija is a new definition of Stour for me.
I was reading your story in daily papers and I was absolutely thrilled, you left me speechless, which does not happen often!
Thank you for your hospitality and great company! We are very proud of you, and all you did so far!
Congratulations for all of the good work done so far! Especially for total transparency in doing business and reporting. You are a role-model to all other cooperatives!
the other day in Carpe Diem bar I tried your blond lager beer Plavuša. I was really so thrilled to see such a good beer, great fun label and the whole deal about the beer that I would love to know where to buy it in Zagreb as well when I get home? You are the best, keep doing what you are doing!
On Saturday morning I went traveling to Montenegro. I had Plavuša, Špurija and Neposlušna beer with me. When my friend took over the wheel I remembered you said that Špurija beer is better when cold. It was sooo good! Black, sweet nectar, I drank it while eating dark coffee flavored chocolate. Neposlušna beer on the other hand is 100% me. Long live Brlog and thank you!
Great beer. Better people.
We are very proud of you and everything you have done so far!
Great beers & a family friendly bar....with table tennis too.
The comment on having pink beer in Brlog: I am so excited I would kiss you! I am going to wear sparkles when drinking it!
Brlog is the best investment! It has potential, I am really sorry I did not invest more.
I read your story in the newspaper, and I’m simply thrilled! Bravo, bravo and bravo! I’m speechless, which doesn't happen often. Warm regards and keep it up!
You and your team are incredible! So much new and promising for the future! Keep it up, bravo!
I was thrilled with the energy you created with this cooperative. How to become a member? I hope I can support you in some way!
Dear Ana, the TV report about Brlog was just great! You really explained what cooperative is about in a simple and relaxed manner. I’m so proud to be a part of this cooperative!
